On November 18, 2014 the Newtown Bee’s contributor Andrew Gorosko posted an article titled ‘Residents Oppose Allowing Scrap Tire Recycling’.  Why would resident of any local community wish to restrict or limit a vehicle related scrap and recycling facility? Here are the details as follows: “MAAK Environmental Corp. is seeking the zoning rule change. If a rule change is approved, the firm would then submit a zoning application for a special permit to conduct scrap tire & recycling at 40 High Bridge Road. That six-acre site with M-1 zoning holds a 59,000-square-foot industrial building constructed in 1965. P&Z Chairman Robert Mulholland stressed that the issue at that public hearing was whether the zoning regulations should be revised to allow scrap tire storage and recycling in M-1 zones, not whether such a land use should be allowed at 40 High Bridge Road. MAAK President Moses Velez says their mission is to keep the planet clean–stressing that MAAK’s tire recycling process would be nonpolluting. Jill Tumney of Beagle Trail raised questions about the environmental impact of a tire recycling operation. Ms. Tumney said tires are highly flammable and could fuel tire fires. Resident Bill Carboni raised issues about the adverse effects of tire recycling–such an activity could result in noise, air pollution, traffic and fires. In response to the various criticism of the proposed tire recycling operation, Mr Velez said his firm would be prepared in the event that emergencies occur at the facility.” For the complete story visit this link: http://newtownbee.com/

The local community where the proposed scrap and recycling site would emerge is likely not directly opposed to recycling activities; however, they seem reluctant to loosening restrictions on zoning in the area that they live. It is an understandable argument, since the area has plenty of industrial properties available that may be suitable. Requirements for scrapping cars

In Ohio, the law requires that anytime ownership of a vehicle is transferred or relinquished, that the seller must sign the title over to the buyer. In addition to the vehicle title, the seller of the scrap vehicle or junk car must provide a photo ID, to verify their identity. What if the junk car is missing the motor? Typically we only buy complete vehicles—meaning cars that have most of their components intact. We do not concern ourselves with whether or not the car runs or if it damaged, since we intend on hauling the vehicle away for scrap either way.
